Wednesday I had to teach the same thing three times, for three different groups of students and today I had to do it one more time. It will be the same every week. Sadly, I had to make the same remarks, ask the same questions, make the same jokes. And the students enjoed it every time (strange!). Yes, I would be bored if I had to do it one more time (in fact, I will do it tomorrow, in the open and distant learning tutorial), but a teacher’s gotta do what a teacher’s gotta do, right?
Actually you are free to change the jokes and the way you teach for every class. It’s up to you to do that, right?
When I was TA I was getting bored to sit through the same class over and over again and see the students do the same things. In fact I also noticed that students sitting in the back of the class would be shopping online during class, no matter the class. It was fascinating…
I’m happy I am not TA-ing this semester, but I get to help my class mates a lot in the digital classes. I wish some got my name right :( I mean I do not need the beer and the hugs… just try to get my name right.
I was kind of parachuted into your class today (just kidding… somebody pushed me through the door), and I think it was the best one ‘till now (tomorrow I have an economy one, so I don’t expect thing to change very soon)… Oh, and I liked the jokes too. „Stand-up teaching” is just what we need in school. Furthermore, in class, the audience can’t boot you off stage, so there’s no risk here… Keep up the good work. :)
I teach Economics, which is a required course at the high school. Every day, I tell the same jokes, every class. Then I tell them again each semester. Kids hate to fail my class because they have to listen to the same jokes again. In my opinion, this should be a very good incentive to pass!
