It’s so different in Europe as opposed to USA in terms of presenting weather news! Here they are only taking heads, reading the information they got from a national institution and they add some silly jokes or try to use various words for the same thing.
In the US, those in charge of giving the bad or good weather news are really prepared in their field, they explain technical terms, they try to make everything clear. The guy from CNN US gave an advice to people affected by Katrina: keep the freezers at high levels for some hours, because the power will be cut when the water will come and you will need fresh food until the power lines are up again.
