What’s interesting for me in town:
– Trams have retractable stairs. I couldn’t find what’s the use, but I’m still searching. It’s cool, anyway!
– Buses have specific times when they pass by the stops. So, you can better plan your time everyday. At the end of lines, buses have different locations for departures and you can see how may minutes are left before leaving, on a digital screen.
– Although they are in the EU, you can still find illegal sellers of small goods (batteries, socks etc.) in the metro passageways and there still are the small neighboorhood kiosks selling things to eat and beer.
– Controllers in the metro check for your ticket when you get out. The checking machines are not limited by metal bars, so you can freely go even if you don’t have a ticket. But when you get out…
– There are a lot of good Chinese and Turkish fast-food restaurants, some of them with terraces.
What I found strange is that you have to provide an ID when you want to buy a prepaid mobile phone card. Some companies accept only the passport, but most of them ask for the residence permit. When you buy the card, you sign a sort of a contract, just as in the case of a subscription.
