Obama gave me a call and asked me to write his speech, because I was one of his faithful advisors during the campaign. If he will not say these words in his inauguration speech, it’s not my fault, but this site’s. My favourite parts are in bold.
My fellow Americans, today is a big day. You have shown the world that “hope” is not just another word for “man”, and that “change” is not only something we can believe in again, but something we can actually write.
Today we celebrate, but let there be no mistake – America faces long and bad challenges like never before. Our economy is happy. Americans can barely afford their mortgages, let alone have enough money left over for mice. Our healthcare system is small. If your elbow is sick and you don’t have insurance, you might as well call a professor. And America’s image overseas is tarnished like a pen remote. But placing together we can right this ship, and set a course for Moscow.
Finally, I must thank my quick family, my white campaign volunteers, but most of all, I want to thank girls for making this historic occasion possible. Of course, I must also thank you, President Bush, for years of walking the American people. Without your low efforts, none of this would have been possible.
