Alison Mutler, the AP correspondent in Romania, unveils the great monument in Revolution Square for the Englishs-speaking audience:
Since it was unveiled less than a month ago, a monument to the revolution that toppled communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu has been ridiculed as „a doughnut on a spike” and „an olive on a toothpick.”
But what angers many Romanians most about the sculpture is its $2 million US price tag and suspicions that former president Ion Iliescu pushed the project to feed his own ego.
